Welcome,

The InterNICHE Brazil (IN-Brazil), founded in 1999, is a network where the harmful use of animals in tertiary education is under severe discussion. We believe that vivisection is a questionable way of learning and understanding living beings, that raises many disadvantages (economical, psychological, social, ethical, technical, environmental and educational ones). The values implicit in this practice and transmitted to students, the unnecessary harm caused to animals, and the ethical conflict it imposes to students are only some of the aspects that could be raised against this practice. Balancing these disadvantages with the innovations and new approaches offered by alternative methods, vivisection in education become unnecessary.

We believe that one of the most responsible causes of vivisection is the lack of information and discussion. Here IN-Brazil has its key role. It's the first and only Brazilian network that deals entirely with the issue of vivisection in tertiary education (in Brazil, the use of animals in primary and secondary education is illegal since 1979).

We work with professors and students in Brazilian universities, promoting the adoption of alternative methods, stimulating the objection to the harmful use of animals, and the search for informations regarding alternatives.

In our site, people can find informations about:

- why refuse vivisection in education;
- how to do it, step by step;
- on-line literature;
- legal aspects of vivisection;
- acess to our discussion list;

- available stuff (videos, books, magazines, etc.)
- informations about alternatives;
- denounces;
- contacts in Brazil;
- links and much more.

This is our work for humane education. Hope you enjoy it.
